CPR – BLS – FIRST AID

2010 CPR guidelines

The new 2010 CPR guidelines have been rolled out and Center For Healthcare Education's lead BLS instructor Cheryl Hansen, M.S., EMT has tested the new BLS/CPR/AED curriculum in a number of healthcare provider courses. When asked to comment Cheryl stated, "I really like it and the students grasp the new concepts easily." She also commented that"...theEmergency First Responder new Prestan training manikins with immediate feedback lights help the students understand what it is really like to perform CPR." As mentioned earlier, Center is gearing up and partnering with the National Safety council with a lofty goal of training thousands of people in First Aid and Emergency First Responder over the next two years. From scouts to coaches to teachers to parents, in businesses and on construction sites – we want everyone to learn how to render First Aid when someone nearby is injured or seriously ill.

12-lead ECG

Center has recently acquired two new Philips Cardiac Monitors with 12-lead ECG capability, NIBP, SP02 and electrical therapy modalities of defibrillation, pacing and synchronized cardioversion. Cindy Tait, RN, MPH stated that "These new monitors help us to more specifically teach ACLS skills, especially with the new guidelines requiring students to interpret basic ischemia, injury and infarction using a 12-lead ECG." Coupled with the brand new Pinnacle Technologies ECG Rhythm generator that displays hundreds of real time basic and advanced dysrhythmias, ACLS students will obtain training that will help them to make better treatment decisions in the field and hospital setting.
